Spring is baby season in Ontario. If you’re suddenly hearing crying, chirping, or constant movement above your ceiling — you may have a mother animal nesting in your attic.

When people find stray animals like raccoons on their property, many prefer to call extermination services or even a poisoning company. It takes care of the problem immediately since it eliminates all animal returning possibilities, preventing any similar incidents. However, wildlife removal is much more humane than hiring poisoning or extermination services. People think that this method is much slower and more time-consuming when in reality, extermination takes a long time that usually leads to an inhumane, tragic death.

During the winter months, wildlife such as bats, raccoons, and squirrels start to slow down their activity and prepare for a long drawn out period of cold weather and lack of food and water. Some of the animals go into a state of Torpor, a form of hibernation, and other semi-hibernate where they rest without moving for several weeks at a time.

When bats are in small numbers, there is not much of a problem. However, when the colony grows the problems will start and they mostly have to do with a buildup of guano. If you only have a small colony, it is best to deal with them as soon as possible as they live for a long time and will stay in the same place as long as conditions permit this.
